Bareilly: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit across all institutions under the SRMS Trust in Bareilly. SRMS Trust founder and chairman Dev Murti, accompanied by Trust Secretary Aditya Murti, hoisted the national flag at SRMS Goodlife Hospital, SRMS CET, SRMS CETR, SRMS IMS and SRMS Riddhima.
Nursing and law students participated in the celebrations at CETR, while paramedical students attended the ceremony at SRMS Medical College.
Dev Murti paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighter Ram Murti, who served as an inspiration for the trust, and remembered all those who contributed to India’s freedom struggle. Extending Independence Day greetings, he said patriotism must remain paramount and emphasised the importance of secularism.
He also urged students and young people to use social media responsibly. Instead of spending excessive time making reels, he encouraged them to use digital platforms constructively. Drawing inspiration from Gandhi’s three monkeys, he called for responding appropriately at the right time, maintaining a positive outlook and encouraging people to do what is right.
Principal of SRMS IMS, Air Marshal (Retd.) Dr M.S. Butola, spoke about the struggles and sacrifices of freedom fighters and highlighted the contribution of freedom fighter Shri Ram Murti. He urged students to work honestly and promote brotherhood and harmony.
Medical Superintendent Dr R.P. Singh also recalled the contribution of freedom fighters, urged everyone to draw inspiration from their lives and expressed gratitude to those associated with the celebrations.

At SRMS Riddhima, gurus and students presented a series of patriotic performances. Kathak gurus paid tribute to the nation through dance, while Bharatanatyam gurus presented ‘Dedicated to Bharat’, conveying a message of patriotism through classical dance.
Theatre guru Vinayak Srivastava and his students staged ‘Azaadi Ki Mashaal’, depicting the struggle and sacrifices made during India’s freedom movement. The Fine Arts, Vocal Music and Instrumental departments added to the celebrations with a fusion performance that further strengthened the patriotic atmosphere.

Chaturvedi, Dean PG Dr S.K. Sagar, Dean UG Dr Bindu Garg, DSW Dr Kranti Kumar, Medical College GM and retired Colonel Raja Manji, Dr Rita Sharma, heads of departments and staff members were present.
The celebrations across SRMS institutions highlighted the values of patriotism, secularism, social harmony and responsible citizenship while paying tribute to the sacrifices that secured India’s freedom.
